Our Story

Magic City Theatre on Ice was formed in 2016 when the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena and the Birmingham Figure Skating Club hosted the 2016 Theatre on Ice National Championships. We had a great experience at our first TOI Nationals and continued to learn and grow as a team in the following years. In 2018, we won our first National Championship in the Open Division. In 2019 our Open team defended their national title and our Intermdiate Team won silver out of a competitive field of 22 teams. We are so excited to continue to work hard and be leaders in the U.S. Figure Skating TOI community.

Our teams are currently preparing for the U.S. Figure Skating Theatre on Ice National Championship in Wichita, Kansas June 24-27, 2020.

Our goal is to help skaters develop their skating skills, performance, and artistry. Looking to improve your IJS component score or strengthen your performance and confidence? Theatre on Ice can help!

  • TOI teaches you how to physically and emotionally connect to music.

  • TOI improves your carriage and clarity of movement.

  • Learn how to show your individuality & personality on the ice.

Theatre on Ice isn't meant to replace a skater's solo career, but enhance it. Figure skating is an individual sport. Theatre on Ice gives skaters the opportunity to benefit from a team atmosphere.

  • Build self esteem and sense of community

  • Team work

  • Communication skills

  • Fun with costumes, props, and scenery

  • A chance to travel and meet skaters from other rinks
