In 2016, the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena was chosen to host the annual National Theatre on Ice Championships. Seeing an opportunity to start something great, we decided to get a team together to compete. The Birmingham Figure Skating Club and Pelham Skate School consists of skaters of diverse age and skill level; this made for the perfect Open and Preliminary division teams. Our TOI program continued to grow after that first year and in 2018, Magic City Theatre on Ice won our first national title in the Open Division. We captured the national title again in 2019, along with a silver medal in the Intermediate level. While working towards qualifying for the 2020 Nation’s Cup, an international Theatre on Ice championship competition, our season was put on pause while the pandemic was running rampage. When the theatre season picked back up in early 2021, things were slightly different than what they had been in previous years in regards to how Nationals would be held, but Magic City Theatre on Ice captured the gold in the open division yet again. Currently, we have an Adult team and an Open team training for the Winter Challenge Cup to be held in January 2022.
